[greater_noakhali] Have respect for your enemy, in addition to hating them

Have respect for your enemy, in addition to hating them

This is an unusual message to share on the Martyred Intellectual Day, but the reality is such that this message seems relevant.

This message is targeted towards the younger generation of Bangladesh, who did not have the opportunity to play a direct role in the Liberation War of Bangladesh. In a way, that miss of opportunity is unfortunate. But more importantly, this generation is fortunate in that many of our older generation have sacrificed their life to make sure that we can be proud of a country where we are born.

The younger generation, who did not have a direct role in 1971 Liberation War, is however responsible to build a country for which 'their next generation' will be proud of. More directly, I want my children, if I am ever gifted with them by the Almighty, to be proud of the country that their parents were born to, there parents' parents were born and they themselves were born.

So, if we, the younger generation accept that challenge, where should we start?

Before going there, let us see what our elder ones (what of them are still living and still can claim to be good representatives of human species) want us to do. I know what you are thinking. If you are like most of us, you are probably angry with them. But still, they are the reason that we are here in this world. So, there is a biological supremacy that they have upon us, if nothing else.

So, what they want us to do?

Alas! There is not a single voice. They are still divided. And the most important thing is that the group who seems to be on the right side of the cause also seems to be the stupid ones compared to those who are on the wrong side of the cause. So, whenever, we try to listen to them, you will hear either garbage or faulty evil sermon.

On the aggregate level, the voice of sane is absent. This is unfortunate, for sure. But it has to be recognized by the young that it is better than nothing. We still have a country to build, remember that.

Here is an example. If you listen to the people who seem to be on the right side of the cause, you will hear that their basis of logic is based on a single most important tone - that is 'hate' the other group. How come 'hate' be the corner-stone of nation building? On the other hand, the ones who have a presumably logical sounding voice (the word 'cunning' can best describe their trait), they seems to be on the wrong side of street. At least, historical truth dictates that.

So, what do we do?

Be on the right side. If you happen to have grown up on the wrong side, disassociate from the wrongs. There is still time. If you happen to be the ones who were sired by Go.A. or Nizami or Mujahid or the likes, prepare for a big responsibility. You may have to see off your biological fathers soon. If you happen to be the ones who became influenced by their cunning idealogy, dissassociate yourself. It might be a good time to position yourself in the right side of the history. Follow your instinct.

Energize the right side with logic that makes sense. How do you do that?

First of all, do not base your action on the basis of hate only. By now, we should have been beyond the hate cycle. Those parasites should have become non-existent by now. But that has not happened yet. And the strongest reason that they did not get their deserved justice yet is actually the sad history of December 14, 1971. This is the symbolic reason, when the greatest minds on the right side was eliminated first by the Rajakars, Al-Badrs, Al-Shams. Our older generation under-estimated them. It is the same reason that a state of de-generation of logic started after the 1971 victory, whereas what the nation needed is a regeneration of activities and thoughts.

This degeneration happened in a two stages - the first was inititated by the elimination of our best minds on 14th December, 1971. And the second stage was based on the fact that the remaining forces who won the war didn't do their job. They did not deliver the justice to the criminals of 1971. They under-estimated the enemy. And the nation is still paying the price for that, even after 36 years of independence. But as the new generation, the youth, grows into maturity, it would get itself out of degeneration, may be slowly - but surely. Until then, be careful. Lets see if they - the oldies can solve the problem they created :)

Thats why we are saying - do not base your action on the basis of hate only. Have some respect for the power of the enemies - just like you do not approach a snake with empty hand.

Keeping the faith on eventual success is the main issue. We shall over come. Soon. On the occasion of Martyred Intellectual Day, December 14, that should be everyone's promise to the country.

If you thought some of the ideas are worth of your reading time, please forward it to others. If you have an ear to the columnists in regular traditional media, please forward it to them. If you have an ear to the journalists and news editors of the electronic media, discuss it with them. Hope they would look at the suggestions and give due diligence.

Thanks for your time,
Innovation Line

[greater_noakhali] Fwd: What's your opinion about the gender of a computer?

>> A SPANISH Teacher was explaining to her class that in Spanish, unlike English, nouns are designated as either masculine or feminine.

"House" for instance, is feminine: "la casa."

"Pencil," however, is masculine: "el lapiz.."

A student asked, "What gender is 'computer'?"

Instead of giving the answer, the teacher split the class into two groups, male and female, and asked them to decide for themselves whether "computer" should be a masculine or a feminine noun.

Each group was asked to give four reasons for its recommendation. The men's group decided that "computer" should definitely be of the feminine gender ("la computadora" ),

because:
1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic;
2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else;
3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for possible later retrieval;
4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.

The women's group, however, concluded that computers should be Masculine ("el computador") ,

because:
1. In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on;
2. They have a lot of data but still can't think for themselves;
3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE the problem;
4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited a little longer, you could have gotten a better model.

> > The women won.
