I am heartbroken to let you know that a bright young
Bangladeshi-American has been brutally murdered in his father's shop in
Germantown, Philadelphia,USA ,on 20 August,wednesday morning. Apu is a
distant cousin of mine. I heard the sad news while I was in a family
holiday in south of England . Me and my wife couldn't stop tears seeing
the brutality of the murder, we are totally devastated.
Apu was just 20, studying Accounting in a philadelphia college. I last
saw him in 1999, he was then a little kid very active, bright and
talented. He moved to America 7 years ago to join his family. His father
Syed Siraj Uddin (My uncle Mr. Syed Nur Nabi's brother) hailed from Musa
pur, Companigonj, Noakhali. Wednesday morning his father took his mum to
the hospital so he had to go to open their shop at 5711 Germantown Ave.,
Philadelphia at around 10:30. At 11:30 an hour after he had opened the
shop, a nearby shop owner noticed his absence, became worried and flaged
down a police officer.
The officer found him in the rear storage area with his hands tied
behind his back and his feet tied with tape and strings,shot once in the
head.
This execution -style horrendious murder shocked the whole America. The
robbers took only$130 dollars. This is a senseless grusome killing of a
innocent, very helpfull and kind young man. The killers still on the
loose. I urge the expatriate Bangladeshi community to raise their voice
and stand united to bring the killers to justice of this henuous crime
so no parents loose their love ones in such a tragic way. Let us pray
for Apu "May Allah give him Jannah". My deepest love and thought for
Apu.
